BATTLE OF SURABAYA
On 10 November, Indonesia celebrates Heroes Day in remembrance of the Battle of Surabaya which started on that date in the year 1945. The big battle happen because Indonesian refused to surrender their weaponry to British army . British Army at that time was part of the Allied Forces. Bung Tomo is the well-known revolutionary leader who played a very important role in this battle.
It all started because of a misunderstanding between British army in Jakarta and british army in Surabaya, under the command of Brigadier A.W.WS. Mallaby. Brigadier Mallaby already had an agreement with Governor of East Java Mr. Surya. The agreement say that British would not ask Indonesian troops to surrender their weapons.
However, a British plane from Jakarta dropped leaflets all over Surabaya. The leaflet told Indonesians to surrender their weapons on 27 October 1945. This action angered the Indonesian troops and militia because they felt betrayed.
On 30 October 1945 , Brigadier Mallaby was murdered as he was drawing nearer the British troops’ post close Jembatan Merah or Ruddy Bridge, Surabaya. There were numerous reports approximately the passing , but it was broadly accepted that the Brigadier was killed by Indonesian militia. Looking at this circumstance , Lieutenant Common Sir Philip Christison brought in fortifications to attack the city.
Within the early morning of 10 November 1945 , British troops started to progress into Surabaya with cover from both maritime and discuss assault. Although the Indonesians protected the city gallantly, the city was prevailed within 3 days and the full fight endured for 3 weeks . In add up to, between 6,000 and 16,000 Indonesians kicked the bucket whereas casualties on the British side were almost 600 to 2000.
Battle of Surabaya caused Indonesia to lose weaponry which hampered the country’s freedom battle. However, the fight incited Indonesian and universal mass to rally for the country’s freedom which made this fight particularly vital for Indonesian national transformation.

Very well structured and well written. Change "That big battle" to "The big battle", as it will make your writing more formal. You don't have to add 's' in 'Indonesian', it already means all citizen.
